Stop the proposed pay rise of £3,360.00 for Members of Parliament during Covid!

Petition Details

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) recently set out plans to raise the wages of MPs by 4.1 per cent in line with the public sector's three-month annual growth figure. The pay increase of £3,360 will take an MP’s basic salary to £85,291. Scrap this inappropriate pay rise now!

Additional Information

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) recently (October 2020) set out plans to raise the wages of MPs by 4.1 per cent in line with the public sector's three-month annual growth figure. The pay increase of £3,360 will take an MP’s basic salary to £85,291, whilst throughout the UK thousands are losing jobs due to the Covid crisis. It is wholly inappropriate for any such increase in MP’s pay at this time, and the proposed IPSA plans should be scrapped in their entirety.
