Devolution for the North of England (similar to Scotland)

Petition Details

Establish a devolved government and parliament for North England with legislative and taxation powers and responsibility for public services following a model similar to devolution in Scotland.

Additional Information

The North has many cultural and economical distinctions from South that we believe require a distinct and local approach. An excellent example would be the fight against COVID19 in which there has been controversy between local leaders in the North and the government. We believe that going forward decisions like balancing protection of the economy and public health or how best to revitalise the economy with state intervention should be determined locally.
