Support to mothers of new babies until end of maternity leave or first 12 months
Only single parent households can form a support bubble. Mothers of new babies that are in a local lockdown receive no support once their partner returns to work.
All new Mothers should be allowed more support once their partner goes back to work, despite local lockdown restrictions.
In a local lockdown you are unable to mix with other households indoors. This means Mothers of new babies will be on their own once their partners return to work. In Winter people won’t want to meet outdoors. Allow nominated individuals to visit the new Mother to improve the mental wellbeing of the Mother and give her a break. This can be a limited selected group & no more than 6 people in the house at any one time.
