Petition Action

Implement Basic Life Support (BLS) as part of Secondary National Curriculum

Petition Details

To make Basic Life Support and AED training a mandatory subject and one that is included in the core education studies of Secondary School pupils

Additional Information

BLS is the core fundamental intervention in situations such as choking, drowning or even cardiac arrest. Basic Life Support is a difference between life and death and promotes the best possible outcomes until clinical intervention arrives. If we can educate at an early stage, this will embed a good ethos of helping if the need arises. Another advantage of giving this skill at this age gives them the insight of what help they can offer and also offer a career insight to move into either the emergency service setting or hospital setting which is a career area struggling for trained staff.
