Immediately Restart Refugee Resettlement Programmes
Due to COVID-19 the government temporarily halted the resettlement of Refugees in the UK. Though understandable in the short term, this is not reason enough for an indefinite suspension of UK Refugee Resettlement programmes for those who already have permission to be resettled in the UK as refugees.
The immigration minister said that this government is resettling refugees “directly from conflict zones”. At present it is not, it should immediately resume doing so. These are some of the of most vulnerable people on the planet and it is our duty to play our role in the international response to humanitarian disasters.
