Petition Action

Reforest England - Use unproductive rural areas and expand existing woodland.

Petition Details

‘Reforest’ initiative to significantly increase woodland and forest areas making use of unproductive or uneconomical farmland.
Use CPO powers to acquire land for public use.
Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission to identify areas, guide acquisitions and subsequently manage environment.

Additional Information

Woodland and forest covers approximately 10% of England. We need to restore our forests and natural habitats significantly by securing, planting and protecting new woodland areas.
Encourage greater access and understanding by the general public.
Farmland in less productive areas is cheap and easy to acquire.
Farmers are the logical custodians of the such areas supporting established trust organisations.
Objective to increase the extent and diversity of our woodland by 100% every 5 years.
