Provide relief to those in the catering industry that were exempt from schemes
Many caterers have felt totally excluded from the "Help Out To Eat Out" scheme, rates relief, grants, and further assistance from the government, as they do not have a physical premises, yet still have to furlough their workers in a time where business has dramatically dropped.
As stated in 2018, "the catering industry is thriving in the UK, with revenue for the market sitting at £1bn" according to IBISWorld. This is a huge part of the hospitality sector, yet caterers were left in the dark, with only the self-employment grant to tide them over and pay furloughed workers. Large events that require outside catering have had to stop, as numbers are limited, meaning business has dropped to 0 for many in the industry, leaving businesses and owners at breaking point.
