Suspend changes in maternity care during the pandemic.
Better Births by Baroness Cumberledge is forcing trusts to implement continuity of carer . They face large penalty fines if they don’t reach the target.
Bringing in massive changes to working patterns is so dangerous during a pandemic .
We believe that this action should be suspended immediately.
Maternity services are facing many challenges.
Better Births Is causing midwives to consider leaving the profession.
Better births means Midwives have to be on call , work in unfamiliar areas, change their shift pattern and disrupt their family life.
Women want a safe birth. They want a midwife who is competent in her field of work and happy at work.
This is dangerous.
We are at risk ,working through a pandemic on minimal staffing levels.
We want this suspended now.
