MPs to be paid equivalent of average full-time salary of a UK Citizen.
This might attract altruistic and empathetic people into the profession, like nurses, cleaners, carers, teachers and people who work in food banks. How can an MP understand the concerns and needs of the average Citizen when they are paid nearly 3 times as much money?
The evidence that there needs to be a change now, has recently been demonstrated by the following:
1. Parliament voting against the extension of Free School Meals
2. The Government deciding that people on a minimum wage, can live off 2/3 of their salary
The next dictate may be “Let them eat Cake!”

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
You can find out more about IPSA here: www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/
