The government to petition the IPSA to have MP's salaries and expenses lowered
Parliament are to petition the IPSA (Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority) to have all MP's wages reduced by £6000 annually (effective as of April 4th 2021) and to cease and abolish all MP's expenses.
We (the public) cannot stand by whilst the wages of the public and our most vital workers stagnates, such as NHS staff. Year after year MP's salarys increase at a rate of 3% - 5% whereas public salaries increase at 1.6% - 2.6%. The public should not foot the bill for unfair salary increases and MP's expenses, this is why we (the public) believe parliament should take this action.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
