Petition Action

Total lockdown to beat the virus

Petition Details

Close all non-essential shops, schools and force everyone to stay home. Promote online learning for school children and convince non-key workers to work from home. Keep essential shops open but encourage supporting small businesses by shopping online

Additional Information

Allowing people to go to school but not to meet up outside of school isn’t working to stop the virus. We need another national lockdown to make things better. Keeping one thing but taking everything else away will not work. We either need to be able to do everything or nothing. An in between is pointless, demonstrated by the recent rise in coronavirus cases (24,405 new cases, 274 new deaths and 1489 new hospital admissions).

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

On Wednesday 4 November, MPs voted to introduce a second national lockdown which therefore began today, Thursday 5 November, and is currently due to end on Wednesday 2 December: www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november.

You could however sign this petition calling for schools to be re-closed due to a rise in Covid-19 cases: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/550846.
