Reduce interest on ALL extant student loans to zero
Mortgage interest rates have been historically low since 2008. The Bank of England base rate is approaching zero. There is no excuse for charging almost 6%.
The marginal rate of tax for a higher rate taxpayer with student loan repayments is higher than for the highest earners with no student debt.
To address the intergenerational wealth & income disparity that has been unjustifiable & unsustainable.
To show goodwill towards the young who will bear the lion's share of the enormous future debt as a result of COVID-19.
To encourage them to hope for a better future.
