Private rent should be suspended for the duration of the crisis
Private rent should be suspended for three months from November to help renters at risk of losing their homes during the pandemic. We ask the government to suspend all rent for the duration of the crisis, to cancel all debt already accrued and to put in place stronger protections against evictions.
A lot of tenants are not eligible for any of the government’s support schemes to help workers or universal credit, and have found it impossible to pay rent. The struggles many renters face during the pandemic are being ignored by the government.
People who are “struggling to make ends meet” should not have to pay rent at all during the pandemic.

The terms of rent repayments are a contractual matter for landlords and renters, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you would like the Government to provide a specific kind of support to renters that is within their responsibilities, you could start a petition about that.
