Petition Action

Allow Fishing to continue thorough the Nov/Dec Covid lockdown

Petition Details

Allow Angling/Fishing to continue through the new lockdown as an outdoor activity

Additional Information

Fishing represents a huge industry in the U.K. (£4b + pa) and is our largest participation sport. Isolated and individual by its very nature, a few hours bank side is far safer than a tube journey to work, a shopping trip to Sainsbury or an 8 hour shift on a busy construction site! Sense must prevail here, for the mental and physical well being of all participants.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government has not banned fishing in outdoor spaces during the current lockdown in England.

The Angling Trust has published guidance on what you can and can't do during the current lockdown: anglingtrust.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Lockdown-2-What-you-can-and-cannot-do.pdf
