Petition Action

Exempt British Gymnastics from lockdown for mental health & physical safety.

Petition Details

Permit British Gymnastics clubs and classes to remain open during lock down as it is vital for mental health and physical safety for example to continue learning skills with the correct apparatus.

Additional Information

Keeping these clubs open to ALL its members is imperative to mental health and physical safety for the maintenance of their skills.

Many gymnasts, especially adults are neurodiverse and normally exceptionally talented. Good mental health is likely to be synonymous with participating in their sport. Access to correct apparatus is vital for safety. Unmaintained skills can also cause 'Lost Move Syndrome' and/or 'Skill Confusion'.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Since you started your petition, the national lockdown in England has ended. You could start a new petition calling for changes to the local tier restrictions, if there are specific changes you'd like to see happen.
