Petition Action

Keep gyms open to support the nations mental health.

Petition Details

Gyms across the country support people with their mental health. It is important that the Government avoid a catastrophic mental health emergency within our communities through ensuring that gyms and leisure centres stay open to provide a much needed mental health support service.

Additional Information

Since fitness facilities have been able to re-open there have been over 22 million gym visits, resulting in just 78 Covid cases, which is 0.35 cases per 100,000 visits (Source: ukactive, as of 19th September).
During the increase in reported cases, gyms account for 1.7% of cases Vs 9.6% have come from restaurants which have been allowed to stay open (Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-54464470).
