Amend currently proposed lockdown legislation for Places of Worship
Proposed legislation states
"Places of Worship will be closed, unless they are being used for:"
(and then lists exemptions)
A more positive and clear wording is:
"Places of Worship will remain open for:"
(listing existing exemptions plus)
"Socially distanced worship wearing appropriate PPE"
Restrictions must be approached in a positive way rather than negatively and give both individuals and police a clear indication of the spirit in which they should understand and apply their powers.
It is also vital to ensure the fundamental human right to worship in community with others is maintained. If businesses, schools and universities remain open without the requirement to wear masks, there is no sound reasoning to restrict the right of worship with others when taking due precautions.
