Emergency funding for adult mental health services due to COVID-19 and lockdown
Adult mental health services need emergency funding to make sure they can reach as many people as possible, reduce the growing suicide rates and attempt to deal with the effect of lockdown and COVID-19 on mental health.
More than two-thirds of adults in the UK reported feeling somewhat or very worried about the effect COVID-19 is having on their life. The lockdown, as of November 5th, is only going to increase the detrimental effects on people with existing mental illnesses and the general public.
There is an average of 37 calls a day to ambulance services due to suicide attempts in London alone. COVID-19 is a global issue currently but the knock-on effects on mental health is far greater.
