Reform the media to ensure a strong, diverse news in the UK
Our democracy depends on diverse sources of reliable, accurate and independent news. Launching a media commission to ensure that there is not a monopoly on the media by splitting up the media to ensure that the current billionaires don't have overall input and expand shares to more people.
Currently the UK media has a very concentrated ownership structure, with six billionaires owning and/or having a majority of voting shares in most of the national newspapers.
During the Leveson Inquiry it was reported how Rupert Murdoch interfered with the content of the paper is just one example of interference.
