Free Care Packages for Retired Individuals

Petition Details

We would like to address that many UK citizens struggle with paying the cost of care. Individuals have been known to spend their life savings and even resort to selling their houses. Dementia is one of the major illnesses causing dept and bankruptcy in a persons later life.

Additional Information

The total cost of dementia in the UK is £26.3 billion. The NHS picks up £4.3 billion of the costs and social care £10.3. Of the £10.3 billion in social care costs, £4.5 billion is attributed to local authority social services for state funded care but this still leaves individuals who are discriminated against under the current system.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, such as fully fund all social care, if that's what you'd like to see happen.

If you do start a new petition, you'll need to include your full name (including a surname) before we can publish it.
