Increase Personal Allowance for Income Tax to at least £13,966.75
This proposal would lead to an increase in personal allowance for those living on the national living wage, which the government must seek to protect in these troubling times.
With current government legislation, National Living Wage stands at £8.72/hour. Currently, personal allowance is lower than the amount a Briton working average hours would receive in a year - £13,966.75. Surely the point of a living wage is to ensure people are able to fulfil their basic needs - why should we not allow citizens to reap the full reward and lose out on roughly £300, which to low income earners could be crucial to their livelihoods?
