Demand full disclosure of competing interests from all working for government
Make it law that anyone with a financial or otherwise interest in a product or company has to declare it if they work for the government in any capacity including scientists, politicians and advisors
There is very little transparency regarding how those working for the government may benefit financially from any decisions made during the democratic process. This could lead to accusations that scientists and other government appointees are favouring products or making decisions that benefit themselves or their friends and associates.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. MPs, including Ministers, are already required to declare any interests
Civil Servants are required to act impartially and without any conflicts of interests. You can find out more here:
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, such as creating a public register of interests for all Civil Servants, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
