Train all shelter dogs for Covid testing and provide for their future needs.
We have an army of potential Covid testers sitting in cages that can be ready in weeks.
The current inadequate testing system must be supplemented by assessing every single shelter dog as a Covid tester. All suitable dogs would be deployed and have its financial needs met for life wherever it lives
Dogs can be trained to quickly to give accurate results instantly and deployed en masse in public places vastly speeding the return to normal life.
The positive effect both on the medical and economic health of the nation is huge. In addition, this will reset the disastrous shelter system.
We can save lives, save money, expand testing, get more business back to normal and go a long way to emptying dog shelters. The cost is be magnitudes smaller than the benefits.
This needs to be fasttracked!

The Government isn't responsible for dogs that have been taken in by animal shelters, but we could accept a petition calling on the Government to provide funding or explore options for using dogs to test for cases of Covid-19.
