Ensure all frontline hospital and care home staff receive Covid-19 vaccine
Key workers including security guards, cleaners, porters, caterers and patient transport drivers put themselves at huge risk working through the first wave of Covid-19 and suffered disproportionately. Make sure they are included in the priority group for receiving a vaccine.
Working on hospital wards and ITU as a therapist during the pandemic, I am likely to be in the vaccine priority group. But key workers like caterers and security guards etc, who worked alongside me providing vital services and who are heavily exposed to patients and the public, are not guaranteed to get the vaccine because their jobs are often outsourced. Make sure the government protects these key workers and properly recognises their invaluable contribution.
