Make mental health awareness part of the national curriculum at all levels
Educate young people on mental health issues in schools across all key stages, from the different types of disorders to recognising the signs of depression.
Inform them of how to help a person who is struggling with a mental health condition, from knowing what to say and where they can go for confidential advice and support.
I think it is very important to educate children on mental health issues. People who do not understand the conditions say unhelpful things like “stay positive” and “cheer up”, this can be damaging to those suffering. Teach children the importance of these conditions not only to help other people but to recognise it in themselves to.
