No return to public sector pay freeze / caps for 21/22 financial year or onwards
Government must not look to make savings by freezing and/or capping increases to public sector workers pay or other terms and conditions of employment.
Public sector pay awards should reflect the increasing work and services delivered and also bear in mind previous successive years of austerity.
Public sector workers ever deliver more for less and continue to work tirelessly to serve communities.
It would be completely wrong for the government to try to look to make savings in this area as part of its recovery plan following the unprecedented spending on the response to the pandemic.
Public sector workers remuneration package in real terms still remains below comparable private sector roles following the years of freezes and caps following the 2008 recession.
