Make it compulsory for dogs to be kept on leads on footpaths where livestock are
To make it compulsory for dogs to be kept on leads whilst walking in areas where livestock are present. Also to issue a fine for out of control dogs and have the powers to remove dogs from offending owners
The increase number of dog attacks on sheep in particular but also other livestock is worrying. Also the fact that farmers are well within their rights to shoot the offending animal only then to be abused by the owner and other members of the public. Dogs cannot be trusted whatever the owner says, it would also prevent attacks on owners from larger stock like cattle.
