MPs should also have a pay freeze with the public sector.
MPs pay should also be frozen in line with the public sector. The government should lead by example. It is a disgrace if they have a pay increase during these difficult times.
This is a difficult time for all, as a teacher I understand why we are getting our pay frozen, even though we have been working hard to keep schools open and are putting our lives at risk every day. Why is it that Members of Parliament are exempt from this pay freeze? I and many feel this is disgraceful and a kick in the teeth by the government. MPs should have a pay freeze in line with the public sector and lead by example.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
You can find out more about IPSA here: www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/
