The government should lift the ban on peaceful public protests.
The government should lift the ban on peaceful public protests.
Protesting is a democratic right, this ban is totally against core British values. Criminalising protests is the first step on the path to dictatorship.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The new Covid-19 regulations permit protests where these have been organised by a business, a charitable, benevolent or philanthropic institution, a public body or a political body, and the gathering organiser takes the required precautions in relation to the gathering: www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1374/pdfs/uksi_20201374_en.pdf
If you would like the Government to change the rules on the type of protests that are permitted we could accept a petition requesting this, but it would need to be clear what changes you want to be made.
