Moving CHOGM from Sri Lanka
In October 2012 the World Bank Meetings were transferred to Tokyo because of problems in Egypt, their original designated venue: with increasing concern over Sri Lanka’s recent human rights violations, highlighted by Fergal Keane on 23 October on BBC News 24 and World Service, will you take the initiative in having the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) moved elsewhere – apart from London, Cardiff & Birmingham have both held EU Councils and/or G8 summits – a move which would respond to citizens’ concerns in at least Britain, Canada and India, and emphasize the character of the Commonwealth as an association of accountable democracies?
