Tougher repercussions on falsely accusing someone of sexual assault.
I would like the government to make tougher repercussions for people who falsely accuse someone of sexual assault.
It is far too easy to lie about being sexually assaulted these days and one of the simple reasons being their is no punishment for lying about such things.
If something was put into place resulting in the person falsely accusing therefore being punished then people may think twice before doing so as not only does it effect the falsely accused persons but it also makes it a lot harder for those unfortunate enough to be telling the truth in their cases to be believed.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It's already an offence to waste police time, or to pervert the course of justice. The maximum sentence for perverting the course of justice is life imprisonment.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, such as creating a specific offence, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
