MOJ. fair and safe options we put to you to change the indeterminate sentence
End ipp upon release with 2 year licence.
Minor breaches to be taken out of the consideration for recall.
Specialist mental health support given for those serving Ipp who are most over tariff.

For those ipp that are lost in system we want them to be progressed to release within 2 yrs
Ipp prisoners are suffering mental health issues because of the ipp sentence. They have lost all hope of ever getting out. Those that do get out live in fear of recall. Self harm amongst these ipp is much higher than that of the general population. Roughly 65 ipp are being transferred to mental hospitals every year because the ipp sentence has driven them insane. Some ipp prisoners have taken their own lives. The Ipp sentence is cruel, inhumane and torture to both ipp inmate and the families .
