Stop private medical insurance premiums from being a taxable benefit

Petition Details

Private medical insurance premiums funded by the employer are considered an employee taxable benefit, resulting in the employee having to pay tax on the premium.

We are asking the Government/HMRC to stop treating this as a taxable benefit.

Additional Information

The number of patients in England waiting over a year for routine hospital care is now 100 times higher than before the pandemic, figures show.

Nearly 163,000 out of the 4.4 million on the waiting list at the end of October had waited over 12 months for operations such as hip replacements.

This means the private healthcare system is now treating patients that would normally have waited for NHS treatment, this should be encouraged rather than penalised.
