Petition Action

Government to Give Single Tribunal Service More Powers with a New Law & Reform

Petition Details

Call on the government to create a fair free tribunal body and procedure to hear complaints/grievances/appeals relating to failure in our public services and divert funds to the tribunal from the Information Commission and Ombudsman who have no power to obtain all records from public organisations.

Additional Information

The tribunal should be given unlimited powers to obtain all records from public bodies and organisations and to compel witnesses to appear. Currently the gravity and control of the privilege in the laws, policies/regulations across our public services not to admit fault or liability to avoid a loss occurring is impacting on the poorest in our society. There are no ethics of trust across our public services for the poorest in our society who are left to stand alone in isolation and end up to lose

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

For example, we're not sure what powers you'd like a single tribunal service to have and what a new law would include. We're also not sure whether you'd like this new service to replace existing public service ombudsman services.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking for a new single tribunal service to be set up for public complaints about all public services, if that's what you'd like to happen.
