Reopen the recently pedestrianised parts of St Albans City Centre
We the undersigned petition the County Council to undertake the necessary studies and public consultation to re-open city centre pedestrianisation of St Albans (to include George Street and Market Place).
The recent COVID-19 closures have led to vastly increased air pollution and traffic congestion
Eradicate damage to historical buildings by imposing weight/size restrictions on George Street and Market Place. Reopen current closed roads to cars, decreasing the congestion & pollution the road closures have caused.
Closures negatively impact surrounding residents who have not been consulted at any point to date.
Pedestrian safety has never been an issue on these roads but emergency vehicles are now delayed increasing risk to lives.
