This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about data protection, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

There are already laws against companies holding data without consent, and substantial penalties for breaching these rules. You can also already complain to the Information Commissioner's Office about how a company has handled your information: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
