Removal of Driving Instructors to stop working as DVSA examiners do in lockdown
DVSA driving examiners during the COVID pandemic have stopped tests, instructors have also been told to stop lessons. Examiners are on more favourable employment terms and have received some income in these instances so far. Instructors are mostly self employed some “excluded” and pay franchise fees
The government must consider, debate and differentiate the differences between DVSA examination staff and the Driving instructors that provide their test candidates. It can not be correct that a DVSA civil servant and their union can lobby for the cessation of tests and the self employed driving instructors must follow suit - often not only eliminating income for the instructors but forcing them to personally accumulate debt and, franchise costs whilst the examiners continue to earn.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the impact of Covid-19 restrictions on driving instructors, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
Decisions about suspending driving tests are a matter for the DVLA, and decisions about restrictions on activities such as driving lessons is a matter for the Government.
We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
Exempt driving tests and lessons from COVID-19 restrictions: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/557462
Allow driving tests and lessons to continue in Tier 4: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/564326
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
