Reduce by law time citizens wait for answer on telephone
All organizations that citizens phone to have an automated system inviting them to press a digit to rejoin the queue when near the top.
My local GP surgery (Banbury Health Centre) uses it and thereby saves much time for callers as I have experienced several times. It eliminates all the annoyance of waiting, sometimes for hours, for an answer. For the benefit it gives, it must be one of the cheapest and most helpful IT system in existence.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government is not responsible for the systems organisations put in place to manage incoming phone calls. This is a matter for individual organisations.
