Call for a no confidence debate in the event that EU trade negotiations fail

Petition Details

I want the Government to understand that they will be held to account by Parliament for any failure in EU trade negotiations. Such a failure would be in direct contradiction of promises made by the PM to the electorate during the Brexit campaign and the general election.

Additional Information

I believe that the British Electorate were hoodwinked by Brexit campaigners in many areas but most significantly into the belief that a trade deal with the EU was a foregone conclusion. Politicians in Britain must be taught that falsehoods and rash promises will be punished and remembered by the nation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept petitions about appointments, which includes calling for Ministers to be sacked or for a vote of no confidence in the UK Government.

If you're concerned about a particular policy or decision that's the responsibility of Government or the House of Commons, you could start a petition about that.
