Put MP’s and government advisors on the furlough pay package during the pandemic
Put MP’s and scientific advisors on the furlough pay packet whilst the measures they impose affect the public’s standard of living.
The government have been guilty of breaching coronavirus restrictions on several occasions. The scientific advisors and MP’s who’s decisions on coronavirus restrictions plunge millions into financial hardship are earning considerably more than the average household in these times. As a gesture of sincerity and to show we are all in this together, MP’s and the advisors who feel these measures are necessary should also demonstrate the practicality of living off of £1600 per month throughout.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
You can find out more about IPSA here: www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme is for employers for hours not worked, but we could accept a petition calling on the Government to reduce the pay of Government advisers during the Covid-19 outbreak.
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
