Add mindfulness and meditation to the national curriculum
Mindfulness and meditation is the first step to living an examined life and being able to be content.
Our current system has been failing young people as it focuses solely on academics or vocations and not enough on the personal growth of young people’s personal growth.
Mindfulness meditation is a growing area in psychology and education.
Other countries have begun rolling out mindfulness courses in education as learning about the nature of ones own mind is a useful skill in all aspects of life, specifically education.
Mindfulness has been linked to increased attention, memory, emotional stability and wellbeing, healthier relationships and mental health. It would be a practical and effective way to tackle the mental health crisis amongst young people.
