Give people with ILR the right to vote in Elections

Petition Details

Foreign citizens who have lived in the uk for more than 5 years and have been given Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) should be given the right to vote in all elections, including General Elections.

Additional Information

Everyone who has spent more than five years of their life committing their life to living in the UK should be given the right to have a voice. Acquiring UK citizenship can be a lengthy and expensive process, a process which many in the UK are simply unable to go through. Someone’s circumstances should never inhibit their democratic power, which ties into a golden rule of democracy: “No taxation without representation."
