All people on the Cifas database access to a basic bank account.
The Government needs to place additional regulations in place to allow a person on the Cifas database access to one basic bank account with any major bank in the UK. This would prevent Identity Fraud from rising and would prevent so many claimants from being on Universal Credit.
I would like the Government to do this because not everyone on the Cifas database is a fraudster.
Most people on the database have been naive or have been as a money mule like myself and are being punished for 6 years as a result.
A bank account is a necessity to live life and to work. The Modern Slavery Act prevents people from working as they require a bank account in their own name and proof of it being in their name. Employers can’t pay cash it is seen as tax evasion.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It is up to individual banks, not the Government or House of Commons, who to offer bank accounts to.
