Overturn government decision to delay second dose of Covid vaccine for elderly
Overturn decision to delay second dose of Covid vaccine for elderly people who have already received their first dose.
Pfizer/BioNTech warning that two doses of vaccine are required for maximum protection and they don't have evidence that the first dose alone offers protection after three weeks.
It is unfair, unprofessional and possibly unethical to cancel the appointments for a second dose of the Covid vaccine already scheduled for the most elderly and vulnerable in our society.
Many Doctors and GP's are outraged at the decision on ethical, logistical and even medical grounds.
The over 80s who signed up to receive the two full doses will naturally be very dismayed and confused about the cancellations and whether the first dose will create immunity to the disease and if so when.

The delays to receiving the second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has been implemented by the NHS following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), which advises UK health departments on immunisation, which has also been supported by the UK's four Chief Medical Officers. Their new advice and the changes to the Covid-19 vaccination programme are consistent with the temporary authorisations granted for these vaccines by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
The JCVI, Chief Medical Officers, MHRA and NHS England are all independent and operationally independent of the UK Government, so we cannot accept petitions calling for actions that these bodies are responsible for.
