Petition Action

Professional usage of fireworks only, unless pre-approval sought by public

Petition Details

Parliament should ensure that fireworks cannot be accessed by members of the public, unless pre-approval is sought from their local council.
Fireworks used in a professional way, with pre-approval, mean the public are pre-warned and can put things in place to lessen the impact of the loud noises.

Additional Information

Fireworks disturb wildlife, pets and normal family routines.
Fireworks cause distress to pets, with nervousness (barking, shaking, stress) and bolting two of the main issues.
Fireworks harm nesting birds and wildlife. It is not just loud noises but the litter and potential for misuse to cause fire damage too.
Fireworks disrupt families as they are not restricted to specific times, so young children who are scared of the noises find it difficult to settle, which causes distress.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what the approval process with councils would require.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, or you might like to sign and share this petition:
