Petition Action

Restrict the sale of fireworks for public use to low noise fireworks only.

Petition Details

Larger and louder fireworks are being sold which can cause unnecessary distress to animals. These fireworks should be restricted to professional events. No one wants to stop people enjoying fireworks, the noise is in the most part unnecessary and can be reduced without spoiling anyone's enjoyment.

Additional Information

To save unnecessary distress to animals.

Around 62% of dogs show signs of distress during fireworks. This alone means thousands of animals are affected by unplanned and random fireworks each year.

Results also saw other animals showing distress during fireworks:

54% of cats
55% of horses
The British Horse Society reports 20 deaths, 10 severe injuries, and 88 mild to moderate injuries in horses in fireworks incidents since 2010.
