Abolish the position of Mayor of London!
Since 2000, London has had a directly elected Mayor.
Our current Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is a former incumbent.
The current mayor is Sadiq Khan.
We believe that Mr Khan has used his position to promote his own political agenda to the detriment of our capital city.
Knife crime is rising.
In addition, we have seen the grotesque waste of taxpayers' money on fireworks displays which does not promise London, but Khan's own propaganda.
The BLM marches occurred on his watch as well as other politically orchestrated protests.
We call upon the Government to abolish the position of Mayor of London to be replaced with a Minister for London who would be directly accountable to the Prime Minister and a member of Government with Cabinet rank.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
You may wish to sign this petition calling for the same action: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/334242
Decisions about local governance are a matter for the people of London, so we wouldn't accept a petition calling on the Government to remove this role without a public vote.
