Petition Action

Introduce a carbon tax on large corporations. They should be held responsible.

Petition Details

Tax large companies on their co2 emissions both nationally and globally, have consequences for those companies who we know pollute and damage the environment. Put this money back into funding new renewable, nuclear, and hydrogen fuel technologies and fund the scientific breakthroughs we need.

Additional Information

If we can tax sugar to protect public health or introduce a lockdown to save lives, why can't we tax those companies who are not held responsible for their environmental damage and CO2 emissions. Climate change will cause more deaths then corona and action must be taken to save those lives. We have both a legal and moral obligation to tackle this and the responsibility lies with both governments and TNCs. If we don't hold them responsible you are committing us to extinction.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

You may wish to sign this petition calling for the same action: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/321854

Your petition refers to large corporations, and taxing both national and global emissions, but it is not clear how this would work in practice.

If you want the Government to take an action different to that requested by the above petition you could start a new petition stating more clearly what you want the Government to do.
