Change the COVID-19 strategy to shield vulnerable persons.
Resources and effort should be dedicated to shielding vulnerable persons through enhances control measures and support. Priority for vaccination should also be given to those persons. Young and fit persons should be permitted to resume activity subject to control measures, such as social distancing.
Scientific evidence has identified the characteristics of persons who are vulnerable to Stage 2 or 3 of COVID-19. Young and fit persons without pre-existing conditions should be permitted to resume normal activity to provide for the population as a whole. Economic, educational, psychological and other costs are being incurred in the current strategy in an unfocused effort to contain infection rates for persons who are highly unlikely to become hospitalised if infected.
