Petition Action

Introduce airport arrival testing to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the UK

Petition Details

Implement testing of Covid-19 for arrivals to UK airports, on arrival and several days afterwards at appropriate intervals, e.g. 5 and 10 days. Follow up with passengers on a daily basis by email, phone or text, to check for symptoms.

Additional Information

Covid-19 enters the UK unchecked via airport arrivals. Compared to other areas, such as the Channel Islands, mainland UK provision is lacking. Current efforts to suppress have not stopped it mutating & migrating. In Scotland Covid-19 was almost eliminated, but travel into the country saw it surge,"the majority of lineages responsible for the second wave are
new introductions from outside of Scotland & many from outside of the UK."(SAGE, 9 Dec, 2020).Protect people with testing & frequent checks.
